If Cricket is a religion...
Sachin Tendulkar !! What a man he is. I am no different from any of the million fellows who are in love with him. One of the advantages of a large population is that you tend to have a high probability of a great person being born. Now don't take it seriously and start reproducing. After all great persons are made not born.
Who else other than the greatest Sachin could play cricket for over sixteen years and remain the very best. You don't have to see his better knocks to say he is great. I mean just seeing his batting titillates you. Even if he scores a run there is bit of finish to it.The flourish in his cover drive is just pure poetry in motion . The pull gets you a feel of watching a rock video. And you don't need food, his straight drive makes you feel as satisfied as you would have felt after eating a three course meal. I am not kidding. Try it yourself.I'll tell you some of the greatest moments in his and indian crickets history.
The first moment of glory was when Sir Donald Bradman the greatest ( if you don't know who he is go away and do something worthwhile) acknowledged Tendulkar to be of his class. If you don't find this comment good enough then you are doing injustice. The next thing that comes to every ones mind are the twin knocks in sharjah . If you had watched the match you would know its speciality. Tony Grieg was at the peak of his commenting career and he was so excited that he could hardly shut up.." What a player! What a wonderful player!!", he kept shouting .
The commitment is amazing. When there was a dust storm in the field everyone left the field yet sachin remained. He was determined to finish the match come what may.
I'll finish with a few qoutes that were going around
"If cricket is a religion Sachin is its God"-crowd
"Sachin is India and India is Sachin"- crowd chant( Sachin was not even playing the match!)
"Luckly we have God batting for in four down to save us!"-crowd(when India was lost four wickets cheaply
"I haven't watched myslf bat. But I feel that Sachin's batting resembles closely my style"-Don Bradman
"If you are having lunch, you might as well throw your plates and get here"-Ravi Shashtri when Sachin hit a six of Caddick
"Because he is Sachin"-India Today in describing its youth icon
